KY TRIO DAY 2022 was held February 25th-26th at EKU

"First a VERY SINCERE & HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO ANDREA BRIN, Assistant Director of Educational Talent Search at Eastern Kentucky University! Andrea was responsible for all logistics and on-site preparation for our event and she did a STELLAR JOB! Also, A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY TRIO STAFF! All programs jumped in to assist and host an INCREDIBLE KY TRIO DAY!

Over 300 TRIO Participants and 50+ TRIO Staff took part in our events this weekend! IMPRESSIVE! The Inaugural KY TRIO Student Leadership Conference played host to 150 TRIO Participants and several TRIO Professionals! I look forward to our continued work together to help this event grow! This event has been in the making for over 10 years and I am so pleased that WE FINALLY DID IT! TRIO Professionals please be on the lookout for continued opportunities to work with your mentors and support your program's Leadership Activation Plans!

Congratulations to our Scholars Bowl Superteam that will be competing on behalf of KY TRIO on April 2nd in Atlanta, GA. Also Congratulations to Murray State University's Talent Search Academic Bowl Team that will be competing as well. We will also hopefully be sending an SSS Debate Team to represent us in the regional competition.

There is a New Regional Competition - Bridge Building Competition that I am looking for KY TRIO representation in Atlanta. If you have a team that would be interested in this, please email me at ASAP! This competition will probably be added to our KY TRIO Student Initiatives beginning next year."

- Stephen Keene, KY TRIO President

What is TRIO Day?

On February 24, 1986, a congressional resolution (H. Con. Res. 278) declared that Saturday, February 28, 1986, should be designated as "National TRIO Day" to commemorate the annual achievements of the Federal TRIO programs in communities across the country. Every year since then, the fourth Saturday in February is observed as National TRIO Day — an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of TRIO students and TRIO programs across the nation.
